42 Climatic tests of acrylic weather-resistant coatings for protection of polyvinyl chloride materials in tropical climate — Voshchikov V. I., Khamidulin Ya. A., Dr. Chi Van Nguyen, Tran Van Tuan, Grakhov D. A., Sumskiy A. V., Dr. Sci. (Chem.), Prof. Shilova O. A.
Abstract.
This paper presents the results of full-scale climatic tests of acrylic coatings in various colors, according to the international RAL color matching system (7016, 7024, 8017, 9003, 9005 — from the RAL Classic palette), designed to protect polyvinyl chloride products. The protective and decorative properties and weather resistance of dark-colored and white coatings were studied, and the aging of the material was assessed over 10 months of exposure in three climatic zones of Vietnam’s tropical climate — temperate tropical, tropical monsoon, and subequatorial. The protective and decorative properties of the coatings were assessed both visually and by changes in optical characteristics — color and gloss. The results of full-scale tests demonstrated good weather resistance of the protective acrylic coatings in tropical conditions.

Abstract.
Modern approaches to the creation of functional coatings increasingly rely on ultraviolet (UV) curing technology — a method that ensures high speed in the formation of stable polymer structures. This approach is particularly effective for products requiring precise control over thickness, surface morphology, and the dynamics of physicochemical processes during coating formation. Of particular value is the integration of nanoscale components (e.g., titanium dioxide, zinc oxides, or carbon nanoparticles) directly into the top layer subjected to UV activation. Such systems not only enhance mechanical strength and heat resistance but also implement multifunctional effects: from improving light-protective properties to regulating surface energy.

44 Study of the decorative properties of coatings obtained by dry blending of powder paints based on polyester resins — Obodkov D. A., Prof. Doctor of Chem. Sci. Lyubimtsev A. V.
Abstract.
Coatings obtained by the dry blending method of powder paints based on carboxy-functional polyester resins and hardeners (triglycidyl isocyanurate and hydroxyalkylamide) were studied. The chemical composition of the film-forming agents was confirmed by IR spectroscopy. The glass transition temperature, acid number, and gel time were determined by differential scanning calorimetry, titration, and gel testing, respectively. It was shown that coatings based on individual resins with hardeners are characterized by high gloss and low roughness. When dry blending powder paints based on different resins and hardeners, coatings with reduced gloss (from matte to semi-gloss) and increased roughness were obtained, which is due to the incompatibility of the components and different curing kinetics. The dry blending method demonstrated the possibility of creating coatings with varying degrees of gloss and surface structure as an alternative to the use of special additives.

Keywords: powder coatings, polyester resin, dry blending, gloss, profilometry, roughness.
